Dapper Days

Spring & Fall 2019

Dapper Days

Dapper Day happens twice a year at Walt Disney World, in a nutshell, it is where everyone comes dressed up in their most dapper attire. This year I went to Spring Dapper Day and was hired to make someone a dress for the Fall Dapper Day. In the past I have kept to just being dapper, not so much themed to one thing or the other, but this year I wanted to do something a little more themed. The Hollywood Tower Hotel bellhop outfit has always been a favorite and seemed like a fun challenge. I decided to go with a design based on the jacket they wear instead to the pants and top because it was more literal in hopes that more people would get it. I think this is one of my favorite themed dresses I have made just because it fits so well at Disney but I could wear it anywhere (that a 1940's themed dress wouldn't be and odd thing to see) and no one would think... THAT'S DISNEY! I also love my accessories with this outfit that I got to make, the little pill hat and "suitcase" bag.

For tha fall, I was asked to make a Beauty and the Beast super fan a swooner, gaston girl, silly girl, bimbette, whatever you want to call them, dress. Not only did she want the idea she wanted as close to the stage shows costume as possible. Oh, and she only gave me three weeks to make it, and I was going home for a wedding for five days. It was a stressful couple weeks (since I was also working full time hours) but I finished with one of my most favorite pieces I think I have ever made. It turned out so nice and had the exact look I was going for. It is a two piece dress composed of a corset style bodice and just larger than normal circle skirt, complete with poofy "sleeves" and matching apron.
